Ableton Move is a new standalone instrument for intuitive music making.
With a simple workflow, portable design and a core library of over 1500 sounds and instrument presets, Move lowers the barrier to getting started on a new idea. Move comes with 32 polyphonic aftertouch pads, a 16-step sequencer and an in-built microphone and speaker. It integrates effortlessly with Ableton Live software, so you can start ideas on Move and finish them in Live.
Create faster than you can overthink
Start fast and keep the momentum going. Assign Move’s four flexible tracks as drum kits, samplers or instruments, or turn drum hits into melodies with the 16-pitches drum layout*. A microphone, 3.5mm line-in and built-in speaker make it perfect for quick sampling and making music on the go. And Move’s battery provides up to four hours of use on a single charge.
Ready to play
Move uses many of the same instruments and effects that power Ableton Live. Its core library is easy to access and tweak, and contains samples, presets and drum hits from Ableton’s sound design team, plus special collaborations with BNYX, DECAP, L.Dre, Sound Oracle and more.
You can use eight built-in audio effects, including a reverb, delay and saturator to bring depth and texture to Move’s output. Apply up to two effects per track, plus two on Move’s master output.
Tactile control
Shape sounds with nine touch-sensitive, endless rotary encoders, and play notes, beats, samples, and clips with 32 backlit pads. Each pad responds to pressure independently, letting you add more movement to your tracks.
Play now, refine later
Create, rework and combine ideas, then head to Live to add finishing touches. Wi-Fi connectivity means you can easily transfer Sets to Live and Note with Ableton Cloud and Move Manager.
Move’s tight integration with Live’s interface and workflow also makes it the ultimate compact control surface for Ableton Live.
Ableton Live Intro included
Move comes with Ableton Live 12.1, which introduces the new pitch correction and harmonization feature Auto Shift, compact sample player Drum Sampler, sound auto-tagging and more.
Key features
Standalone operation. Move’s compact size, diverse sound library and rechargeable battery – plus a built-in processor, speaker and microphone – means you take it anywhere to make music.
Four flexible tracks. Use any or all of Move’s four tracks as a drum kit, sampler or synthesizer, and add up to two effects to each one.
Note Mode. Make beats with a 16-pad layout for drum performance and sequencing, or use the melodic layout to create melodies and chords across multiple octaves, and in dozens of keys and scales.
Session Mode. Use Move’s pads to create, edit and trigger clips, and mix and match musical ideas quickly.
16 pitches for drums. 16 Pitches lets you play your drums and one-shots melodically, triggering selected drum sounds at different pitches and across multiple octaves.
Sampling and resampling. Sample your environment with Move’s microphone or 3.5 mm audio input, and use your recordings to make new beats and melodies. Or internally resample the main output of Move.
Parameter automation. Tweak the encoders to record or capture dynamic changes to your sounds in real time, and sequence parameter changes using per-step automation.
Step sequencer. Program beats and notes with a 16-step sequencer, apply quantization or groove to tighten your timing or add swing, edit velocities, nudge notes and automate parameters for each step.
Capture. If you played something you liked but weren’t recording, press the Capture button and Move will recall your performance. This also works for parameter automation.
Arpeggiator* and Repeat. Turn a chord into an automated sequence of individual notes with Arpeggiator, or use Repeat to trigger a series of rapidly repeating notes or beats with the press of a pad.
